Ever considered those close islands to Florida? I’ve been lucky enough to investigate a few of them and can guarantee you they’re really worth a trip. Whether you’re searching for a very PEACEFUL escape or a real ADVENTURE, these islands offer something for absolutely everybody.

Where to start

The islands off the coast of Florida map flaunts some of the most BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUE destinations throughout the U.S. I’ve spent loads of time with this map, and it’s quite THRILLING to see all the choices out there! Each island has its very own particular charm – from SECLUDED shelters to locations packed with fun activities. When I first started my trips, I didn’t know where to start. But now I know exactly which islands I’d highly recommend to you. If you haven’t actually seen these islands up close yourself, you’re in for a real treat!

When I hear ‘close islands to Florida,’ I think of those places that are relatively easy to reach – but which do feel like another world. These islands have an atmosphere that’s totally different from mainland Florida itself, and I completely love that. I’ve been to a few of them, and I must say the beauty of these places is truly beyond words.

Key West

One of my absolute favorites has to be Key West, which is one of the closest islands itself. It’s just a short drive from the mainland, but it truly feels as if you’re in a whole other world. That very relaxed atmosphere, those incredibly rainbow streets, and those truly spectacular sunsets will make it a must-see. If you ever get to the islands, watch the sunset at Mallory Square – it’s a tradition, and I’ll never forget it.

There’s simply no lack of fun activities on the closest islands to Florida. Whether you’re into water sports, wildlife, or basking in the sun, these islands will keep you entertained all day. I recall my very first time in the Florida Keys. I went snorkeling in those CRYSTAL-CLEAR waters, and it was simply one of the best adventures of my whole life. It really did feel as if I were swimming in some sort of giant aquarium. If you love the ocean as much as I do, you’ll probably have to add the Keys themselves to your travel plans.

I also love to spend time on Sanibel Island. It’s renowned for its beautiful beaches and truly special shells. I went shelling there for hours, and every time I found a new shell, I genuinely felt as if I had found some kind of hidden treasure. If you love nature, then this island is ideal for you. And the sunsets themselves are simply beautiful, too.

Marco Island

What’s so special about the closest islands to Florida? To me, it’s that escape. Even though these islands are a short trip away from the mainland, they feel like a totally different place. The much slower pace, the truly stunning views, and the chance to disconnect from day-to-day life make these islands memorable. I’ve actually found myself returning many times to Marco Island, where I can simply relax and enjoy the beautiful beaches.

And it’s not just the beaches themselves that make these islands stand out. The history and culture of places like Amelia Island give them a real one-of-a-kind charm. I was amazed by the old Victorian buildings themselves and the stories of pirates and settlers who used to roam the island. Every part of Amelia Island had the air of a secret to tell. If you actually enjoy history and adventure, you’ll feel truly right at home here.

Should you be thinking about going to any of the closest islands to Florida, I’ve got a few tips for you. First, pack very lightly. Most of these islands themselves are just laid-back and don’t need anything very special. I found that I spent the majority of my time wearing super comfy clothes and flip-flops. Don’t forget to take sunscreen along, though – you’ll need it.

Beaches, mountains, and deserts all give really WONDERFUL views in Mexico. I saw all over Mexico and would love to share the best views with you. Let’s dive right in!

Many views in Mexico really make travelers feel ECSTATIC and elated. Each location in Mexico has its own UNIQUE beauty because of the totally different landscapes. People who’ll be drawn to loads, sands, or old cities will surely enjoy Mexico.

I witnessed some of the most BEAUTIFUL views of my life in Mexico. All sorts of views seem to be everywhere in Mexico, and each location is very beautiful. Tulum has very clear water and the whitest beaches that truly resemble a paradise. The Caribbean Sea in Tulum gives you just the most AMAZING views ever.

Views from the mountains

Mountain views in Mexico will make you truly feel strong and at peace. Hills show magnificent and very beautiful views. In Puebla, I climbed up a mountain and saw those very large dales below. Mexican mountains really do feel very high. Your mind finds peace with the mountain view, and this makes you pause for a moment.

The Sierra Madre mountains in northern Mexico hold views over a huge area. Those oppressive landscapes and really massive views will help you form memories. Mountains and forests stretch out endlessly, and the view itself seems extremely sweeping. The sight of huge mountains really helps one feel tiny, but also happy at the same time. Mexico’s mountain views are unmatched.

The desert views

Areas in the desert in Mexico will present you with views that are really STRONG and surprising. Desert views in Mexico themselves are incredibly PERSONAL and beautiful. Baja California will give you desert and ocean views combined. Dunes of sand and a blue sky form a perfect view. When you see the desert and ocean together, you’ll witness some truly unforgettable scenes.

Copper Canyon in Chihuahua offers you a truly wonderful view of the canyons themselves. When you’re at the edge of Copper Canyon, you see those red and brown rock layers stretched out endlessly. The train ride in Copper Canyon will show you some very IMPRESSIVE views right through the windows. This train ride made me feel like I was in a cowboy movie.

Beach views

Beaches in Mexico show some of the clearest water and the softest sand. Mexico has all the ingredients to make the most wonderful beach views. Those world-famous beaches, such as Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, give some of the most exquisite views you’ll ever see. Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Puerto Vallarta offer really lovely beach views themselves.

The Caribbean Sea is crystal clear, and it’s a real treat to watch it. Sunrises and sunsets on the beaches of Mexico look simply INCREDIBLE. Sunset itself, behind palm trees and waves, is really very special. Water lovers will have an even better time on Mexican beaches than elsewhere.

Ancient ruins

The Elderly ruins themselves in Mexico will give you a true sense of history – and those same views. Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan will show you some of the oldest and most interesting views from the very top. Climbing pyramids will let you see those views of the old city and will really give you a sense of the history of Mexico itself.

The top of the Pyramid of the Sun will give you that sensation of being as high as possible and totally unshackled. And from the very top of the pyramid, you’ll see both the city and the mountains stretching out endlessly. Those ancient pyramids will give you a powerful experience, and the views make it all the more special.

Forests

Forests in Mexico themselves will give you those extremely comforting and very green views. The Monarch Butterfly Reserve will display a whole bunch of butterflies and the green views of the forest. Millions of butterflies in the forest will help do an experience that you’ll never forget. I still remember the views of that butterfly forest myself.

Forests in Chiapas offer tall trees and misty views. Lacandon Jungle offers tall trees, abundant green plants, and simple mist. The trees are tall, the air is clean, and the forest is peaceful.

What to See in Aveiro

Aveiro is a small city, yet it’s very CHARMING and full of beauty. Known as the “Venice of Portugal,” Aveiro has a whole bunch of canals running through the city. The canals are one of the best things to do in Aveiro. You might even board a traditional boat called a “moliceiro” and cruise along the natureportugal.com de Aveiro, the truly stunning lagoon that makes this city ONE.

Ria de Aveiro

When you come to Aveiro, you just can’t miss the Ria de Aveiro. This lagoon is like the city’s heartbeat itself. It’s full of history and nature. I adore walking along the waterfront, watching the birds and the boats. If you’re fond of nature, then I really suggest the closest salt flats – here you’ll witness how salt is made with the same methods as were used many years ago.

The Ria de Aveiro itself isn’t only beautiful, but it’s home to many different world of birds, too. Birdwatching is one of my favorite things to do, and it’s just so peaceful!

Art Nouveau

Aveiro’s old town is home to some wonderful examples of Art Nouveau architecture. The buildings have very INTRICATE designs, and some even have lovely tiles which you’ll notice as you walk by. The colours and patterns are quite simply AMAZING!! If you’re like me, then you’ll suddenly stop and take loads of photographs. The Museu de Arte Nova is a fantastic place to read this rather unique style a bit more closely.

The buildings in the immediate area of the Praça do Peixe (Fish Square) are my personal favorites to look at. The area has that completely OLD-FASHIONED feel, which combines perfectly with the very LIVELY atmosphere of the city itself.

Ovos moles

No trip to Aveiro is ever complete without their famous sweets, especially the ovos moles. These sweet things themselves are made from egg yolks and sugar, and have been an integral part of Aveiro’s history for centuries. I well recall my very first taste – it was so sweet and richly flavored. You’ll find ovos moles in lots of very small shops all over the city, so make sure you get hold of a box or two. Believe me, you won’t regret it.

Beaches

If you’re a fan of the beach, then Aveiro itself has some quite special accessories. The nearby beaches, such as Praia da Barra and Costa Nova, are perfect for the sun and sea. Costa Nova is famous for its extremely COLORFUL striped houses, and I always love taking a stroll along the beach here. The water itself will be a little cool, but it’s absolutely perfect for that refreshing dip on a very hot day!

Museums

Aveiro is full of museums that tell the most interesting story of its incredibly RICH history. I personally highly recommend the Museu de Aveiro, located within an old convent building. The museum is full of interesting displays about Aveiro’s history, from its salt work to its up as a city in the 19th century.

If you’re interested in history, this museum is a must-see. I’ve spent hours here exploring, and I always discover something new every time I visit.

“Moliceiro” boats

One of the most interesting sights in Aveiro is the moliceiro boats. These boats themselves have a very rainbow and unique design and have been used for centuries to collect seaweed from the lagoon. I find it really quite cool watching them glide effortlessly through the canals, each boat decorated with the most vibrant colors and with some very creative designs.

If you’re like me, then you’ll wanna climb aboard one of these boats. It’s a really fun experience itself! You get to really relax and take pleasure in the beautiful environs, and at the same time learn much more about the city’s history.

Best Time to Visit Bergen

When I think of Bergen, the question of the best time to visit always comes to mind. Honestly, the answer really depends on what you wanna do! If you’re like me and adore nice weather, summer’s your best bet. From June to August, the weather’s just right, and you’ll experience Bergen at its best.

I was there during those months and experienced WONDERFUL weather. Imagine the old town under the sun or sailing along the fjords with the wind in your hair. With many festivals and events in summer, it’s the perfect time to have fun and explore Bergen.

However, if you’re looking for a more RELAXED experience, you might wanna consider visiting Bergen in spring or autumn. Those times are less crowded, and the scenery’s equally lovely. I personally prefer the colors of autumn when the city’s parks and streets look almost MAGICAL.

Best Time in winter

For people who truly enjoy a winter wonderland, the best time to go to Bergen is December to February. It’s a complete change of atmosphere compared to the milder months, but I think it’s a worthwhile experience. The city will be mostly covered in snow, and you’ll have the chance to enjoy COMFORTABLE cafes and pretty Christmas markets.

I know winter mightn’t be to everyone’s taste, but personally, I find the city looks ever so magical with the snow and the mountains in the background. If you’re lucky, you could also see the Northern Lights!

Things to do in Cape Cod in October

If you’re visiting Cape Cod in October, you’re in for a treat! The crisp air and BEAUTIFUL fall colors do a COZY atmosphere that will take your breath away. The quiet sands will give you a sense of calm, and everything will feel even more special.

I recommend a slow walk along one of Cape Cod’s many beautiful beaches, like Coast Guard Beach or Race Point Beach. As you stroll along, you’ll see the VIBRANT leaves near the trees – a beautiful backdrop for photographs. The October landscape is perfect for pictures!

When I visit in October, I just can’t resist a journey to a local pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Cape Cod has tons of these spots, and they’re just so much fun. I usually grab a hot cider, pick a pumpkin, and just soak in the season itself. It’s a really WONDERFUL way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Adults

If you’re like me and enjoy activities suited to adults, this is your place!! Cape Cod has loads of things to see and do beyond just family-friendly options, although there’s a lot of those, too. I’ve discovered many attractions perfect for a more RELAXED, grown-up experience.

One of my absolute favourites is the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s a really beautiful place to go for a hike, watch birds, or just drink in the very natural beauty of Cape Cod. I enjoy the marsh signs and spotting wildlife. It’s very PEACEFUL, and there’s a nice sense of serenity there that makes me feel connected to nature itself.

For an evening out, I really do recommend one of the many charming local wineries. Cape Cod has quite excellent wineries – such as Truro ranches – which I absolutely love visiting. I’ve been to some of the best wine tastings there, and the views over the vineyard itself are amazing. If you do like wine and stunning views, then you’ll wanna have this experience too.

Different angle

If you’re ready to discover activities a little off the beaten path, then Cape Cod does have many PERSONAL things to offer. One of my absolute loves is taking a Cape Cod Canal cruise. This is a great way to really see the Cape from a different angle. I’ve been on several tours, and each one has been memorable. The boat ride offers a chance to see the canal itself, the lands, and the beautiful landscape. I highly recommend it!

Another exercise I really do love is going on a seal watching tour. Cape Cod is very well known for its seals, and I’ve seen these very cute creatures up close. These tours are loads of fun, and I always finish with a massive grin on my face after witnessing seals on the shoals. It is the perfect way to connect with nature itself in a fun and unforgettable way.

If you’re trying for a bit more excitement, then a kayaking trip would be a great choice. Exploring the waters of Cape Cod itself in a kayak is so much fun! The extremely quiet waters, beautiful environs, and the chance to see sea creatures up close make for an experience that’s probably really worth it.

History

Love history like I do? You’re in luck because Cape Cod is actually full of it! One place I always visit when I’m here’s the Cape Cod National Seashore. It’s not only beautiful – it’s also packed with historical climaxes and stories. I’ve wandered around the salt marshes, visited the lighthouses, and really learned so much about the area itself. The Salt Pond Guest Center is a perfect place to start your investigation.

The Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown is also a special place of mine. It’s such a really iconic spot, and the view from the very top is just really stunning. I always try to visit here – not only to learn about the Pilgrims’ trip itself but also to see one of the most incredible views of the Cape itself.

Is Cinco de Mayo the Day of the Dead?

It’s a very IMPORTANT holiday in Mexico – but it isn’t the same as the Day of the Dead. I know it can be pretty confusing. I got mixed up too when I found out about both holidays. They’re quite DIFFERENT, and I really wanna share the details with you so we can clear up the confusion itself!

What’s Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo is often misunderstood, and I’ve mistakenly thought it was a day for honoring the dead. But it’s actually a celebration of something completely different. Cinco de Mayo – which means ‘5th of May’ in Spanish – is truly all about paying tribute to a key moment in Mexico’s history. On this day, we’ll be remembering the Battle of Puebla that took place in 1862. It was a struggle between the Mexican army and the French army, and guess what? The Mexicans won! That was a really SIGNIFICANT victory, especially given the fact that they were outnumbered.

You might be thinking, “Isn’t Cinco de Mayo all about the Day of the Dead?” But no, it’s not. I’ll explain why people mix them up, though.

The Battle of Puebla

Let me tell you, the Battle of Puebla was a MAJOR deal. Back then, Mexico was in debt, and the French wanted to take advantage of this situation. The Mexican army was much smaller, but they fought so hard and defeated the French police! I always find it inspiring when the underdogs really come out on top. This victory actually gave the Mexican people hope in some pretty hard times.

On Cinco de Mayo, people in Mexico will commemorate this victory. It’s not a huge deal everywhere in Mexico, but it’s VITAL in Puebla itself. In the U. S., Cinco de Mayo is mostly a fun celebration with food, music, and dancing!! Arabella King once mentioned that she really loves the LIVELY spirit and music of the U. S. celebrations.

I totally get it. It’s easy to get confused between Cinco de Mayo and the Day of the Dead because they both involve honoring people from your past. But I promise you, they aren’t even remotely the same at all. The Day of the Dead, or “Día de los Muertos,” actually happens on the 1st and 2nd of November, and it’s all about remembering those loved ones who’ve passed away. It’s a time of joyous celebration, not sadness, and families do exquisite altars to truly honor their forebears. You’ll see loads of marigolds, candles, and sugar skulls everywhere. It’s a really SPECIAL lore.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates a HISTORIC battle, while the Day of the Dead celebrates life and honors those we miss. Both holidays are interesting, but they’ve completely different meanings and ways of celebrating. Diana Hall told me that she really loves how both holidays chest Mexican culture in different ways.

How do people celebrate it?

Now that we’ve sorted out the confusion, let’s really talk about how we celebrate Cinco de Mayo itself. It’s a day full of very real excitement. People in the U. S. especially love it, and I’ve been part of some AMAZING parties. You can usually expect a lot of food like tacos, burritos, and guacamole. Honestly, I just can’t resist some DELICIOUS Mexican food on this day. You’ll also hear mariachi bands playing traditional music, and some places even have parades.

In Mexico, the biggest celebrations are in Puebla itself, where the Battle of Puebla happened. There, people have festivals and reenactments. But in the U. S., it’s mostly a fun party. I love celebrating with my friends. Diana Hall once said that she likes both celebrations because they bring.

I’ve actually been on almost every ride at Universal Studios Orlando itself, and a few of them always bring me back. One of my absolute favorites is The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. The 3D, movement, and action-packed story really make it a must-do ride for any person visiting Universal.

Another ride I really cannot get enough of is Fast & Furious – Supercharged. If you’re a fan of the films, this ride is so much fun it’ll drive you wild! It’ll feel as if you’re in a super-fast car chase, and I just laugh and scream uncontrollably all over again. Let’s talk about it!

For me, the best ride at Universal Studios is hands down The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. It’s one of the newest rides itself and is already a classic in my mind. I’ve ridden this ride many times, and it just gets better every time!

Best roller coasters

Universal Studios Orlando has some pretty intense roller coasters for those who’re really into this kinda thrill. One of my very personal favorites is the Dragon problem (although it’s been replaced by Hagrid’s), but don’t worry, since we still have The Incredible Hulk Coaster. What I love about Universal’s coasters is their extreme intensity and speed. It isn’t just the huge drops but also how the coaster takes you through a series of tight and sharp turns. You’ll absolutely never forget the ride itself!
