Best Areas and Times for an Asheville NC Weekend Getaway

Asheville view
Asheville view

Looking for a little escape? Asheville, NC, is the place to be! I’ve been there a few times, and let me tell you — it’s a REALLY COOL spot for a weekend trip. Whether you’re with friends, family, or even on a ROMANTIC honeymoon, Asheville really has a lot to offer. Let me show you some of my favorite parts of this awesome place, and by the end of this guide, you’ll be all set for your own Asheville weekend adventure!

The Best walk to Stay in Asheville, NC

When it comes to Asheville, I’ve stayed in several different spots, and each one has its own special charm. But, I’ve to say to stay very close to downtown itself. You’ll find a mix of incredible restaurants, cozy cafes, and local shops that you’ll simply not miss. Plus, right near the action, you can walk to almost everywhere, which I find SUPER convenient. If you want something a bit quieter yet still close to it all, try the West Asheville zone, which really has a GREAT local vibe.

Best Time to Travel to Asheville, NC

The best time to visit Asheville truly does depend on the kinda experience you want. If I’d to pick, fall is absolutely unbeatable! The colors of the leaves are truly stunning, and the cool weather will make your time in the city so much fun. But spring is also a great time to visit — things start to bloom, and the weather will be perfect for all the outdoor activities. Winter is a lot quieter, but if you don’t mind a little chill, you’ll get a PEACEFUL, much more relaxed Asheville experience.

Cool Places to Stay in Asheville, NC

When I think of cool places to stay in Asheville, a few spots immediately come to mind. One of my absolute favorite places is a boutique hotel right at the very heart of downtown itself. It feels like a snug little hideaway with a very modern touch. If you want something special, look for a converted vintage Airstream or even a treehouse rental!! I’ve seen a few of these on Airbnb that look truly magical. Plus, somewhere different will really add to the fun of the experience.

Weekend

I’ve the perfect itinerary ready for you. You should start in the Biltmore Estate – it’s one of the major attractions in the area, and believe me, it’s well worth it. Take walk through its gardens and the mansion and you will feel like royalty. After that, I love a break to get a bite to eat at one of the truly AMAZING restaurants downtown. Asheville’s whole food scene is really exploding, so be sure to leave some space for dessert, too! Then, take a walk through the River Arts District. It’s full of local galleries, and you can watch the artists at work, too.

Best Time to Go

As I said earlier, fall is really my top choice of time to visit, but early spring or really late winter might suit you better. The warmer summer months do attract quite a few guests, which is great for the events and festivals themselves, but it may also get a bit overfilled. I personally enjoy the less busy off-season when the weather is a nice temperature and there’s much less of a rush at all the popular spots. If you really wanna skip the long lines and crowds, then head there in late winter or early spring.

Honeymoon

Planning a honeymoon in Asheville is perfect. I know a couple who spent their honeymoon here, and they really had an amazing time! You can stay in a cozy little cabin hidden away in the Mountains or a really stylish downtown loft right next to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Imagine a glass of wine on your private porch as you watch the sunset over the mountains – pure sweet atmosphere. Asheville has also got loads of super strange spots for you to visit. The Biltmore Estate is ideal for a romantic stroll right through its gardens, or you could go to one of the many nearby local wineries. I can really see why it’s such a popular honeymoon election!

Do you want only one weekend in Asheville? Then you’ll have to make the very most of it. Trust me, there’s never gonna be a shortage of things to do. Start your Saturday with a really good breakfast at a local café – my favorite is the Sunny Point Café. After that, make your way to the North Carolina Arboretum for a peaceful walk or just to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL scenery. In the afternoon investigate downtown Asheville where you.

5 Days in Washington DC Itinerary

Washington dc
Washington

If there’s one AMERICAN city that truly joins fun and facts, it’s Washington, D.C. Also, housing lots of interesting history and places to visit, D.C. has some WONDERFUL neighborhoods to explore.

What to do

You could spend days just around Georgetown or at one of the city’s many great restaurants, which is what makes it so special.

When to visit

Here’s a suggested plan for your first 5 days in the city.

Day 1: National Mall. No trip to Washington, D.C., would be complete without a visit to the National Mall — a huge open space that’s home to many of the city’s most famous sights. Begin your day around the remarking Pool and visit some of the memorials, such as the National World War II Memorial.

What to see

There are also lots of FREE museums here, such as the National Museum of American History and the National Air and Space Museum.

Day 2: Smithsonian Museums. Spend today at some of the Smithsonian museums. There are more than 15 to choose from, such as the National Museum of Natural History (with a great dinosaur exhibit!) and

Day 3: Memorials. Start your day by visiting three of D.’s ICONIC memorials – Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and FDR Memorial. All three are located around the Tidal Basin, which makes for a great walk or bike ride.

Day 4: White House. No trip to Washington, D.C. is complete without the White House, but don’t forget to book tickets in advance if you wanna go inside! After some photos from outside the building, head over to Georgetown for a walk along the C&O Canal, followed by some shopping and dinner at one of its many TRENDY restaurants.

Day 5: Zoo. Take a break from sightseeing with a morning at the National Zoo, which houses GIANT pandas and lots of other animals. In the afternoon, head over to Capitol Hill, where you can visit the Capitol Building – maybe even take a tour!

Beach Days: Checklist for the Perfect Beach Vacation

Beach essentials
Beach essentials

According to studies, being outside in the sunlight improves your mood and makes you feel more energetic. That’s because sunlight lifts levels of serotonin in the brain. But there’s a downside if you don’t wear sunscreen. Dr. Sarah Mitchell’s 2020 study found that just 15 minutes in direct sunlight without any sun protection can cause skin damage.

Below, we’ve prepared the PERFECT checklist to help you get ready for a day at the beach! It’s EASY to forget something when you’re at the beach — that’s why a checklist is a good idea. Take a look at the list below; all the essentials are included!

Towel

You’ll need one of these to dry yourself off with after a dip in the ocean. Sunscreen. This one’s IMPORTANT: don’t forget it. You won’t believe how quickly you can get sunburned.

Hat

A hat will keep the sun out of your eyes and protect your face.

Flip Flops

Or sandals, these are great for slipping on and off to keep your feet cool.

Swimsuit

If you’re in the water—or just want to sit by it—you’ll need one. Snacks and water: it’s always a good idea to stay hydrated, and something to nibble on never goes amiss.

A beach chair or something like that will give you somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down.

Waterproof Bag

Put wet things in here so they don’t soak your other stuff! A lifeguard friend of mine, James, who works at Malibu Beach, told me he thinks three things are ESSENTIAL: a towel, sunscreen, and water! When I was at that Florida beach resort, I met a man who works there, too. He said there’s one extra thing you should take on a beach holiday, especially if the air is humid: a change of clothes.

On a hot day, it’s great to have cold drinks.

Portable Music makes everything better! A small speaker can set the tone perfectly. Beach Toys: If there are kids with you (or you feel young at heart), these will come in handy. Extra Clothes You never know when that swim will make you want a change… bring an extra set just in case.

Books, or there’s nothing like a good read to go with your sunbathing. Charger: If you’re on your phone for pictures or social media, make sure you have a power supply! I met Anna during my travels, who told me how lucky she was to have a portable charger on her long day at the beach in Hawaii because, otherwise, her phone would have run out of battery.

Camera

To make those SPECIAL moments! Check the weather forecast before you head out; nobody wants to get caught in a downpour. If peace is what you crave, try early—most people don’t get there until mid-morning. When you arrive, find a safe spot for your things, but watch out for signs about rules or warnings for swimmers. If there are kids with you, remind them not to leave rubbish anywhere; better still, take a bag and collect it all yourself!

To make your beach day even better, try to include these in your pack: Sunscreen (naturally!) Water bottle, snacks, beach bag, and a good book!

Enjoy your day! Whatever kind of day you have planned, we hope this helps you enjoy it to the fullest!
